Here are some of our own personal favourites.

IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003.

http://www.irfanview.com/

Visit the IrfanView Web site and click the Download link to download IrfanView to your computer.

Before you download IrfanView, if you don't already have a folder called Downloads on your C drive, make one now by double clicking My Computer, then double click C:\.  Right click inside the C drive window that opens and a menu will appear.  Click on New and a submenu will appear.  Click on Folder.  An "unnamed folder" by default called "New Folder" will appear on your C drive.  Erase the words "New Folder" and type Downloads.  This Downloads folder will be what you should download all your programs into.  This is a sure way to always know where those illusive downloaded programs disappeared to.

By default IrfanView will be installed into a folder called IrfanView inside your Program Files folder.  Make sure the Create shortcut on desktop and Start Menu Programs is checked, then click Next.  Follow the prompts for the rest of the installation.
